THE MEANING OF LIFE
The Bible tells us that the meaning of life is to know God and to make Him known.
But there is a problem- naturally, we are all sinful enemies of God.
1 THE BAD NEWS is that…
Romans 3:23
all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
We can try to do good things like keep the 10 commandments or live moral lives, but God’s standard for salvation is so high that we can’t achieve it on our own. It has to be given by Him as a gift. So while there is bad news, there is also good news.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
2. THE GOOD NEWS is that… GOD LOVES YOU
Romans 5:8
God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
3. JUST KNOWING THIS IS NOT ENOUGH, WE HAVE TO BELIEVE IT WITH OUR HEART…
Romans 10:9
...if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:13 For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Romans 5:1
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
4. NOW WE HAVE A NEW IDENTITY AND PURPOSE
We are no longer enemies of God. Instead, we are born again into His family and become His children.
Romans 8:1-2
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU READ OR HEARD? DO YOU BELIEVE THIS?
5. IF SO, YOU CAN PRAY THIS PRAYER…
Heavenly Father, I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son, and that He died on the cross to save me from my sin. I believe that He rose again to life, and that He invites me to live forever with Him in heaven as part of Your family. Because of what Jesus has done, I ask You to forgive me of my sin and give me eternal life. I invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow Him as my Lord. Help me to live in a way that please and honors You. Amen.
